Product Description

Know About Earthing and Earthing Electrodes.

Earthing is an integral part of an electrical system to prevent shock to human beings and damage to equipment. Earthing is primarily established with an electrical component, called earthing electrode. Earthing is also called grounding system since the electrode is grounded inside moist soil which is chosen to reduce electrical resistance. The system, thus, created contributes to the overall impedance value. Earthing system is created as an alternative path for neutralising excessive current or faulty current by directing it into the ground in the presence of low resistance.

The fundamental objective of fixing an earthing electrode in an electrical system is for the reduction of the risk of electric shock due to current leaking into unsaturated metal parts. In an ideal electrical system with proper earthing, such leaking current is neutralised harmlessly while tripping the fuse. Earthing system is also installed in buildings for the protection from electrical phenomena, like lightning and sudden power surges. For protection from lightning, earthing electrodes are generally installed on top of buildings to attract this naturally occurring phenomenon and discharge safely to the ground through a wired connection.

What is Fluidyne Eco Friendly Earthing?

Fluidyne has pioneered Gel Earthing after years of R&D in the field. It has developed innovative, environment-friendly and cost-effective solutions for the grounding requirements. We also came up with a special hygroscopic compound, called RE Back Fill Compound which is used in chemical earthing electrodes. This world class product led to the replacement of traditional earthing methods. With its effective composition, it has become a complete solution for any application that requires a high-performing earthing system.

Products & Services

Fluidyne earthing is a complete earthing solution provider - right from the technical  design of  the  site to ground testing,  production, sales, trading, service and execution of the earthing system.

Fluidyne ground Conductivity Improve Materials:

  • GCIM Hygrolite
  • GCIM Standard
  • GCIM Excel

Fluidyne Earthing Electrodes Types:

  • Hot Dip Galvanized PIP Earth Electrodes
  • Copper Bonded FIP Earth Electrodes
  • Pure Copper FIP Earth Electrode
  • Copper Bonded Rod
  • Pipe-in-Pipe (Pip) Technology

The pipe-in-pipe technology concept involves one pipe inserted inside from top to bottom of another pipe. The inserted inner pipe is copper bonded for high conductivity and increased life. The pipe (main conductor) is placed centrally inside the outer pipe and space inside the earthing electrode is tightly filled with a crystalline conductive mixture (CCM) and constant conductive compound which is highly conductive and anti-corrosive. Constant conductive compound does not collapse even if the outer pipe corrodes after many years, thus, there is no reduction in earthing surface area for a long time.

Galvanized and Zinc Bonded Earthing Electrode Pipe :

  • Filled with ground conductivity improved material (earthing backfill compound-alloy metal)
  • Pipe thickness 2 mm to 3.8 mm (ISI)
  • Zinc bright spray is used on hot dip galvanized electrode for ensuring fine finish
  • Very high conductivity and anti-corrosion property / Long service life

Strip in Pipe Hot Dip & Copper Bonded Earthing Electrode :

  • Pipe thickness 2 mm to 3.8 mm (ISI)/ G.I. Hot Dip inner flat
  • Zinc bright spray used on hot dip galvanized electrode for ensuring fine finish
  • Copper bonded pipe thickness 100 x 250 micron / Long service life
  • Very high conductivity and anti corrosion property

Fluidyne Earthing Back Fill Compound :

Fluidyne Gel Earthing Electrodes feature strong Back-Fill compound (BFC). Our unique back fill compound is a combination of composite constituents of metal alloy for high conductivity, anti-corrosion. It is also hygroscopic in nature to provide great strength of high conductivity Earthing. During installation with proper water pouring, our powdered B.F.C. converts into 'Gel'. Once it transforms into gel, it acquires the quality to retain moisture up to twenty times its dry volume. Moreover, it also creates a gel layer surrounding our earthing electrode. Our back-fill-compound is a combination of totally corrosion free and highly conductive and non-corrosive minerals. The BFC is available in convenient packing of 25kg / 15kg / 10kg per bag.

FAQs of Earthing Electrode

Which is the best earthing electrode?

Pipe earthing is considered as the best earthing electrode since it is suitable for earthing more leakage current in the same climatic and soil conditions when compared to others. Another distinguishable factor is that it has a very low possibility of breaking in the earth wire. However, in terms of material, copper earthing electrodes are considered better than others because of its high conductivity, low impedance and excellent resistance to corrosion.

What are the four types of earthing electrode?

There are mainly four types of earthing electrodes including Pipe Earthing, Plate Earthing, Rod Earthing and Mat Earthing. Pipe earthing electrode is the most common type of earthing electrode used to connect with electrical conductors of earth. Plate earthing electrodes, as the name suggests, are manufactured as plates. In such an earthing system, copper plates are placed at a distance of 3 meters and vertically placed in an earth pit. Rod earthing electrode is solid earthing material unlike pipe, which is hollow inside. Mat earthing is designed to connect horizontal and vertical electrodes. In mat earthing, the horizontal electrode represses the current that emerged as a result of a huge fault whereas the vertical electrode dissipates the fault current into earth.

What is the standard length of an earthing electrode?

For ordinary soil, the standard size of the earthing electrode is 2.5 meters in length and 40mm in diameter. The length of earthing electrodes is greater for dry and rocky soil. The magnitude of current to be carried also determines the size of earthing electrode.

What is the difference between GI earthing electrodes and copper earthing electrodes?

GI earthing electrodes are made of galvanized iron. Galvanization is done to increase corrosion resistance. Copper earthing electrodes are known for high conductivity. GI earthing electrodes are a cheaper option when compared to copper earthing electrodes. In terms of durability, copper earthing electrodes are 8-10% longer than GI one. That is the reason the GI earthing electrode is overdesigned by 8-10%.
